Student discounts on streaming and music in 2026: prices and who qualifies
By SubscriptionGaugePublished Updated
These are US student and young-adult prices from each provider’s own pages, read on . They’re “if you qualify” prices. You have to pass the provider’s check, usually through SheerID or UNiDAYS, and most checks repeat every year. That’s why this site lists them apart from the main rank on its cheapest pages. If you don’t qualify, the cheapest music plans anyone can buy are Apple Music Individual at $11.99/mo and YouTube Music Individual at $11.99/mo on cheapest music subscriptions.
Student plans you keep while you stay verified
Each of these is a standing plan, not an introductory rate. The price holds as long as you keep passing the provider’s check, up to any limit in the terms below. Free first months aren’t included.
| Service | Plan | Price if you qualify | Regular plan | Regular price | Difference a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spotify | Student | $6.99/mo | Individual | $12.99/mo | $6 |
| Apple Music | Student | $6.99/mo | Individual | $11.99/mo | $5 |
| YouTube Music | Student | $5.99/mo | Individual | $11.99/mo | $6 |
| YouTube Premium | Student | $8.99/mo | Individual | $15.99/mo | $7 |
| Disney+ and Hulu bundle | Disney+, Hulu bundle Student | $6.49/mo | Disney+, Hulu bundle (with ads) | $12.99/mo | $6.50 |
| Amazon Music Unlimited | Student | $5.99/mo | Individual | $12.99/mo | $7 |
| Amazon Prime | Prime for Young Adults | $7.49/mo · $69/yr | Prime | $14.99/mo · $139/yr | $7.50 |
The difference compares monthly prices only. Where a service also sells a yearly plan, the yearly price is in the price columns. Add a student plan to the calculator. The calculator won’t count a student price as a saving unless you mark yourself as a student.
Who qualifies, and what happens after
Spotify Student: $6.99/mo
Spotify says you qualify if you are “a student enrolled at an eligible US Title IV accredited college or university, and above the age of 18.” It checks enrollment through SheerID. The US offer “currently includes access to Hulu (With Ads), subject to eligibility,” and is available only to students “if you haven’t tried Premium before.”
After you graduate or leave school, Spotify says you keep Premium Student with Hulu (With Ads) “for up to 12 months from the date you subscribed.” Students can re-verify “once every 12 months, for a maximum of 3 additional 12 month periods.” If you can’t re-verify, you’re no longer eligible for Premium Student. The page doesn’t say which price you move to. Source: Spotify Premium for Students.
Apple Music Student: $6.99/mo
Apple’s page says “College students only. Verification required.”
Apple says verified students get student pricing “for up to four years, as long as you remain a student. After four years, your membership will continue at the individual member price.” The Apple TV access included with the student plan is described as a limited-time offer that “ends when you no longer qualify or do not renew your Apple Music Student subscription.” Source: Apple Music.
YouTube Music Student: $5.99/mo
YouTube’s plan page says “Eligible students only. Annual verification required.” YouTube Help points to SheerID for help with verification.
YouTube Help says you can be on a student membership for up to four years and must re-verify every year. “If you remain a subscriber but are no longer eligible for student pricing, your student membership will automatically transition over to a full-priced membership.” Source: YouTube Help: student memberships.
YouTube Premium Student: $8.99/mo
The same terms as YouTube Music Student: “Eligible students only. Annual verification required.” Premium Student includes ad-free YouTube and YouTube Music, so you don’t need both student plans.
The same YouTube Help rules apply: up to four years, with a check every year. Once you’re no longer eligible, the membership moves to full price unless you cancel. Source: YouTube Premium student plan.
Disney+, Hulu bundle Student: $6.49/mo
The offer is for the ad-supported Disney+, Hulu Bundle only. It’s open to “U.S. residents, 18+ only” who are enrolled at “a U.S. university or post-secondary degree or certificate-granting, accredited institution,” verified through SheerID. It’s available only when Disney+ or Hulu bills you directly. “ESPN subscribers and HBO Max-billed bundle subscribers are not eligible to redeem offer.”
The student price lasts “so long as student enrollment status remains verified, then $12.99/month or then-current, regular monthly price.” Student status must be re-verified every year. If it isn’t, subscribers “will roll to the full priced Disney+, Hulu Bundle (with ads) plan.” Source: Hulu student offer.
Amazon Music Unlimited Student: $5.99/mo
Amazon says the student price is for students “currently enrolled in a degree-granting college or university,” verified through SheerID. It adds that “some technical and vocational schools may not qualify.” A Prime Student check doesn’t count; Amazon Music verifies you separately.
The discount “applies as long as you are a verified student and for a maximum of 4 years after signup.” The FAQ doesn’t say which price follows. Source: Amazon Music FAQ.
Amazon Prime for Young Adults: $7.49/mo · $69/yr
Amazon’s sign-up page offers it to “18-24 year-olds and students.”
Amazon Help says that if you joined through student verification, “after four years, or the end of your studies, your membership will convert to a normal Prime Membership.” If you joined through age verification, it converts “when you reach 25 years old.” Source: Amazon Help: Prime for Young Adults.
Spotify Premium Student and the Disney+, Hulu student bundle both include Hulu (With Ads). If you have both, you get Hulu twice. YouTube Premium Student already includes YouTube Music, so you don’t need YouTube Music Student as well. The video plan costs $3 a month more.
Time-limited student promos
These three are promotions with an end date or a yearly term. They aren’t plans in this catalog and don’t appear in its tables or rankings. The terms are quoted from each provider.
- HBO Max, promo: Basic with Ads for $5.49 a month, for up to 12 months. HBO Max Help says verified students get “the HBO Max Basic with Ads plan for $5.49/month (a 50% savings) for up to 12 months.” You verify through UNiDAYS. The student page says the offer is for direct-billed subscribers aged 18+ at a U.S. accredited college or university, and that the discounted subscription “will automatically renew each month for up to 12 months, unless you cancel.” Neither page states the price after month 12. For reference, the catalog lists HBO Max Basic with ads at $10.99/mo · $109.99/yr. Source: HBO Max Help: student discount.
- Peacock, promo: Premium for $6.99 a month, for 12 months. Peacock says: “After 12 months, you will be charged $12.99 or the then-current retail price (+tax) each month until you cancel.” It requires annual verification through SheerID. You must be 18 or older, live in the US, and be enrolled at a Title IV-accredited college or university. Peacock adds that eligible students “may renew offer at the then-current rate,” and that current paid subscribers may have to cancel before redeeming. Source: Peacock student discount.
- Paramount+, promo: 50% off any plan, for one year at a time. Paramount+ Help says verified students “can get 50% off ANY Paramount+ plan.” It’s for students at an accredited, Title IV college or university, and “High school students are not eligible.” Verification is through SheerID, and you sign up on the web. The discount “is valid for 1 year.” You can re-verify each year you remain a student. If you don’t, the plan “will auto-renew at the then-current regular price.” The help page gives a percentage, not a discounted price, so no dollar figure is shown here. Not included: a $1.99 Hulu student plan
Hulu’s student page showed only the $6.49 bundle on . Some 2026 roundups still list a $1.99 Hulu-only price, and no official Hulu page we checked offered it.
If you don’t qualify
Cheapest music subscriptions ranks plans anyone can buy and lists student plans separately. Cheapest streaming services does the same for video. The music plans are side by side, student rows included, on Spotify vs Apple Music vs YouTube Music. Price changes for each service are on its price history page, for example Spotify and Apple Music.
