How prices are verified

SubscriptionGauge is a public price desk. The numbers live in a typed file in this site’s repository so a person, or an assistant, can update one plan with a small change. There is no database and no account. Notes that use these prices are published on the blog.

What gets recorded

For each service: the name, a stable slug, a category, the plans, USD prices, whether the plan is sold with ads, the official pricing URL, the date those figures were last checked, and price-history rows. A history row needs a date, the plan, the old price, the new price, and a source URL.

The preferred source is the company’s own pricing or help page. When that page will not render a price, a reputable report that quotes the company is used and the plan is marked Reported. This edition was checked on October 16, 2026.

What stays off the site

  • A price nobody could verify. Guessing is worse than a gap.
  • Intro offers, student trials, and “first month free,” unless the page is explicit that the figure is the ongoing rate. Those are mentioned in notes.
  • History rows that lack either the old or the new number. A headline that only says “prices are going up” is not an entry.
  • Taxes, carrier billing, and app-store markups, unless a source separates them.

Plans left out this round

Duolingo Super and Max were not listed. Public pages we could read did not show a stable US price, and secondary write-ups disagreed. Google AI Plus was omitted because Google’s own pages disagreed ($4.99 on one, $9.99 on another). Google AI Ultra did not render a price. YouTube Premium annual and student rates, Uber One’s annual price, and a monthly Xbox Game Pass Essential price were not on a page we could cite, so those rows are absent. Walmart+ InHome and Adobe student pricing were skipped for the same reason.

The calculator

The total is a run rate. A monthly plan times twelve is a year. A price billed every four weeks is counted as thirteen bills, which is how The New York Times All Access standard rate is turned into a yearly figure. Yearly memberships are divided by twelve for the monthly number. Suggestions compare published plans. They are not additive, and a bundle suggestion assumes you would cancel the separate plans it replaces.

Ask for a missing service

If a subscription is not in the catalog, you can ask for it. We verify an official price before it is added, usually within a few weekdays. No email is required. Until that check is done, add your own price in the calculator. That line is your entry, not a verified price, and it stays in your browser.

Disclaimer

Prices change, promos differ by account, and a third-party biller can charge a different amount. SubscriptionGauge is not affiliated with Netflix, Spotify, Disney, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, or any other service named here. Plan names are used so you can recognize the bill. This is not an offer to sell those services, not financial advice, and not a promise that a cheaper plan includes the same shows, storage, or usage limits. Read the source link on the service page before you switch.
