discovery+ price increase 2026: what changes and when

discovery+ Help Center says the discovery+ plan increased by $1 to $6.99 a month and the discovery+ (Ad-Free) plan increased by $2 to $11.99 a month, plus applicable taxes. New US subscriptions use those prices from October 13, 2026.

The previous monthly prices in the catalog are $5.99 for discovery+ and $9.99 for discovery+ (Ad-Free). They are the new prices minus the increases on the help page. The Verge’s October 13, 2026 report states the same old and new prices.

Over twelve monthly bills, discovery+ goes from $71.88 to $83.88, $12 more, and discovery+ (Ad-Free) goes from $119.88 to $143.88, $24 more. Add discovery+ to the calculator.

What to check

When your bill changes

Existing subscribers pay the new price from their next billing date on or after November 12, 2026, plus tax. With a promotional discount, the price doesn't rise until the promotion ends.

Whether a partner bills you

The help article says a subscription billed through Amazon Prime Video Channels, DIRECTV, the Roku Channel, or Sling TV gets its price-change notice from that provider. A subscription billed by discovery+ or an app store renews at the new price on the billing date above.

Where this sits in the catalog

discovery+ at $6.99/mo has the lowest monthly run rate among streaming services in this catalog. Next are Paramount+ Essential and Peacock Select, billed annually at $89.99/yr ($7.50 a month). The rank uses the same monthly run rate as cheapest streaming services.
